Commitment…focus…integrity.
Consistently bring these qualities to the passion in your life, and it’s inevitable that success will be yours. Knowing from as early as he can remember that he was meant to be drumming, Del Bennett lives his life in pursuit of his calling. Whether it is through performing on the global stage, recording thousands of studio sessions, or guiding over hundreds of students toward their own drumming dream, Del readily acknowledges the myriad blessings a life of drumming has brought him over the last 30 years.
Playing with some of the world’s best musicians like Daryl Stuermer, Greg Koch, Johnny Neel, David Grissom, Jeff Lorber, Malford Milligan, Reggie Hamilton, Stephen Bruton, Eldon Huff and Robin Ford has broadened and honed Del’s drumming chops. His status as a first call drummer in his home town of Milwaukee has afforded him the opportunity to play with further great artists such as Bill “The Buddha” Dickens, Sigmund Snopeck, Paul Cebar, Jack Grassel, Berkeley Fudge, Kostia, Willy Porter, Mary Karlzen, Mark Woerpel, Jimmy Stewart, Erica Hoyt (Nashville artist) and George Young (saxophonist from Saturday Night Live).
2011 WAMI Award winner Drummer of the Year, Del expresses his passion through his solo projects. He characterizes his 2002 debut solo CD “Full Circle” as “a marriage of heavy jazz fusion, light jazz, and funk.” “I Said” (2009), further demonstrated his fire hardened connection and commitment to his jazz and jazz fusion roots. Currently, Del is collaborating on an innovative and genre crossing CD trilogy with rap artist Godxilla and a country blues/rock CD with Nashville signed artist Eldon Huff.
Bringing depth and variety to his drumming accomplishments are achievements in recording countless radio spots, musical scores for The Milwaukee Rep Theatre, TV shows, band CD’s and over 40 Hal Leonard Publications. Del has even recorded for the PlayStation game Grand Prix Racing.
